My Quarter Life Crisis

Quarter Century of Me

So here I am, a twenty five year old single white male. Does it feel different? Not really. Many refer to me as old timer or say "Wow! So 25 eh?" Yeah. I guess I am getting "old" by the standards of today's youth. A little anecdote...."At the gym there's an attractive girl who sells new memberships there. She dresses very sophisticated has a pretty good personality. So one day she finds out my buddy's bday cause he's signing up for a membership and she says "Wow! you're a whole six years older than me!" Funny thing is that my friend and I share the same birthday. Some quick math in my head led me to the fact that she was only 18. Good Lord! Is it just my body getting older and my mind not catching up? There was no way that this girl looked 18. Anyhow I took that as an indicator of my age. But not in a bad way...I mean she was surprised to find out we were that old so therefore we must also portray a youthful image. Good Stuff!

Well I just wanted to give a shout out to all my friends for their birthday wishes. Rob thanks for the game. I may not have a biological brother but as far as I'm concerned your my brother. Thanks for being there when I need it, and most of all, thanks for being honest. Much love dude. Andrea I cant express how much I appreciated the balloons. LOL! We're gonna set the town on fire for our bday date! Rekindling our friendship has been one of the happiest events of this year! You're the bomb jigga. Emil buddy...what can I say our twenty fourth year has come and gone and with it came good times and bad. We helped each other thru it and I hope our 25th brings more good than bad...but either way together we'll get thru it. Love u dude ...
Ayland and Martino you fuckers LOL! I appreciate the bday wishes and I can always rely on you guys to get me FUCKED up on my bday. You guys have been there since my move to the Mdot (can't believe I typed that but whatever) and I just want to say thanks.

So what does my twenty-fifth annum have in store for me? I hope that the quarter century life brings my quarter life crisis to its culmination. This may very well be one of the most important years of my life. I hope that it goes well. I need to straighten things out in my life. From a relationship point of view to a professional one, I aspire to achieve happiness and fulfillment. One facet of my life I care to explore further is the spiritual aspect. May it be religious or just spirituality in general, or the spirituality gleaned from karate, I will make a concious effort to be more receptive of such impulses and not dismiss them without exploration.

So ...Cheers to many more years to come!

More harassment by the man....

What the Hell!

Sorry but I must warn you that this is going to be a rant post. Yesterday I went to my friend's house for a little jam session and on the way home I pass a gas station across the street and notice a cop parked in the driveway. I drive past and notice that he pulls out and pulls a u-turn in my rearview. I get onto the highway and pass a couple of exits and THEN....I see the cherries go on. I pull over and give the cop my license insurance and ownership. He still hasn't told me what he pulled me over for. He comes back after a few minutes and tells me that he's not giving me a ticket (what a surprise...maybe its because i did nothing wrong) but he pulled me over because the tint on my front windows was too dark and he couldn't see me when I passed him at the gas station. Geeee maybe its because its the middle of the night and he's across the street on a four lane road and not really my tinted windows. Thank you for wasting my time officer. This is the second time that this has happened to me. The first time the cop actually asked "You boys up to anything illegal tonight?" ....Yeah jerk-off I just finished robbing a bank and I'm on my way to the strip joint to spend the spoils of my crime. Sheeeeessh! FRICK! (in honour of JG)lol!

I'm not really into a lot of the newer music that's out right now. Velvet Revolver, the new Papa Roach album, that stuff is pretty good but not much else. I like Jet so here is one of their tunes.

Brrrrr!

I can't believe how cold it is out there or in here. i'm at work right now and we have short sleeve uniforms and i'm FREEZING. I'm writing this post on my Treo which is very cool since I had to sign an agreement that doesn't allow visiting of blogs on company computers. thank you PalmOne.

So I went to go see House of Flying Daggers yesterday and I must say I really enjoyed it. The movie was very artfully done, it had great use of colour and cinematography much like the movie Hero just better. the martial arts as well as the story was very good so I reccomend it to everyone.

So today this guy calls in sick but the thing is we worked together the night before and he was quite excited about telling me he had a bunch of beer in his bag and he was spending the night at his girlfriend's house. why on earth would you tell this information to your supervisor whom you are going to call the next morning to say you're too sick to come in. Newbies, sheeesh!

I usually choose a song that has to do with the post but today i'll just pick the last song I listened to.

Well...It was only a matter of time

I have up until now been able to avoid the sickness going around. All my coworkers have gotten sick and some multiple times and I have been able to avoid it until now. I credit that to my recent good eating habits and the vitamins I have been taking. Alas, the streak has ended and I have gotten sick. The stuffy nose...the sinus headaches...booooooo!

On another note I measured my body composition yesterday and I'm at 16% body fat. Much higher than I would like it to be....So my goal is to be at 8% body fat by May. That means I have to trim approximately 2% each month. I am determined to do it. Will keep you posted.

I was watching Star Trek Voyager today (I know what a geek!) but the character Tuvoc said something that I needed to hear.

Another Semester Begins.....

So I began my last semester at university yesterday. The crappy part is that my thesis advisor is my least favourite professor in the economics department. We'll see how it goes. I'm pretty excited about a couple of the other courses I'm taking. One is a religious studies course about Asian religions, mostly Chinese, very interesting. The other is a course on skeptism and atheism. I'm excited about that one. I don't believe that I am an atheist, rather, I am more of a skeptic. I have found that my level of spirituality has increased over the past year and I have to credit karate and a trip to Blockbuster for it. Karate for me is mostly a mental experience and helps me focus and clear my mind but it was a trip to Blockbuster that made me realize that I am still somewhat religous. My friends and I were picking out a movie and we came to "The Passion of the Christ" and I was asked whether or not I had seen it. I replied that I hadn't because I had heard that the movie was quite graphic in its depictions of the last days of Jesus' life. Being a movie junkie, I have been exposed to a lot of blood and gore and don't have a problem with it but in this case since I could personally relate to the character due to my Catholic school education and my being Catholic it was different. I was kinda surprised at my answer since I never really realized that Jesus was that ingrained into my personality.

I've had some recent conversations with friends and have come to realize that my issues are more with the Catholic church than with the religion itself. Knowing the history of the church's past corruption and its lack of evolution to contemporary society I can't believe in the Catholic Church. Going to mass is hard for me because I find myself not really paying attention or people watching or trying to stay awake. I think if this is the case I shouldn't be there. There have been other events in my life that have contributed to my reluctance to attend mass but those are long stories. Also I think that I am a good person with good morals etc. and when I see people I know that do not attending church pretending they are righteous God-fearing individuals only to return to their usual habits upon leaving the church disgusts me.
I know that some feel I shouldn't feel this way but I can't help it.

Maybe if I find the right church with a good priest who puts some spirit into his masses I would attend more often...I dunno...

Well my point is that this religous course will give me an opportunity to better examine my religious beliefs through the study of two philosophers who had opposing viewpoints on religion. At the same time I can learn about the origins of other organized relegions. I'm looking forward to it since I usually do very well in courses I find interesting and there haven't been many recently.

Song of the Post: "Jesus Walks" by Kanye West

For this one I'm gonna post the lyrics too...

"Jesus Walks"

Yo, We at war
We at war with terrorism, racism, and most of all we at war with ourselves
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me) with me with me with me [fades]

You know what the Midwest is?
Young & Restless
Where restless Niggaz might snatch your necklace
And next these Niggaz might jack your Lexus
Somebody tell these Niggaz who Kanye West is
I walk through the valley of the shadow of death is
Top floor the view alone will leave you breathless Uhhhh!
Try to catch it Uhhhh! It's kinda hard hard
Getting choked by the detectives yeah yeah now check the method
They be asking us questions, harass and arrest us
Saying "we eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast"
Huh? Yall eat pieces of shit? What's the basis?
We ain't going nowhere but got suits and cases
A trunk full of coke rental car from Avis
My momma used to say only Jesus can save us
Well momma I know I act a fool
But I'll be gone til November I got packs to move I Hope

[Hook x2]
(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks with me)
The only thing that that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now
(Jesus Walks)
And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs
(Jesus Walks with me)
I want to talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long

To the hustlas, killers, murderers, drug dealers even the strippers
(jesus walks with them)
To the victims of Welfare for we living in hell here hell yeah
(jesus walks with them)
Now hear ye hear ye want to see Thee more clearly
I know he hear me when my feet get weary
Cuz we're the almost nearly extinct
We rappers are role models we rap we don't think
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way yall need Jesus
So here go my single dog radio needs this
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes
But if I talk about God my record won't get played Huh?
Well let this take away from my spins
Which will probably take away from my ends
Then I hope this take away from my sins
And bring the day that I'm dreaming about
Next time I'm in the club everybody screaming out

(Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the devil trying to break me down
(Jesus Walks)
The only thing that that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now
